HAPPY NEW YEAR…. Financially speaking For those of you a little deflated from your tax return this year, or up for some laughs when the chilly air keeps you inside, Punchline has the answer this July.
5 American men are at the front of our line-up this month… Dave Chappelle, Jeff Garlin, Dana Gould, Harland Williams and John Witherspoon with never-released-in-Australia DVD’s. First up we have the final season of Chappelle’s Show: The Lost Episodes. Charlie Murphy and Donnell Rawlings complete the final sketches for the famed Comedy Central Program. Outrageous, intelligent and provocative, Chappelle’s Show - The Lost Episodes proves that Dave Chappelle is now and forever one of the funniest, most boundary-pushing comedians to ever appear on television.
Jeff Garlin, co-star and executive producer on the critically acclaimed series Curb Your Enthusium, showcases his stand-up material in Young and Handsome. Garlin’s comic style has much in common with the stand-ups of the ‘60s and early ‘70s (among them Woody Allen, Sehrman Berman, Richard Pryor and Mort Sahl). His style takes a story-telling approach, exploring his personal foibles and exposing his innermost secrets for all to hear. Veteran stand-up comedian and Emmy®-winning writer (The Simpsons), Dana Gould presents Let Me Put My Thoughts In You, a one-hour comedy special recorded at Chicago’s Second City Theatre. One of the founding members of L.A.’s alternative comedy scene, Dana has performed on HBO, Comedy Central, The Late Show with David Letterman, Late Night with Conan O’Brien, and has appeared in numerous TV shows including Seinfeld and The Ben Stiller Show.
Live News… Some of Australian favourite comedians are touring the country at the moment like Akmal, Kitty Flanagan and Puppetry of the Penis so make sure to keep a look out. On the international front Stephen Lynch will be dropping off in Melbourne and Sydney for shows this August, so make sure you get re-acquainted with the man on his Live at the El Ray DVD.
TV News… Studio A has kicked off a brand new season in Melbourne on Ch31, Monday’s at 8.30pm. Tune in to see rising star Tommy Little and up-coming comedians do their thing, in the original studio where Rove got his start.
Jimeoin will also be appearing on Channel 10’s Talkin’ About Your Generation in August, which will be promoting his new DVD, available 18th August.
