Nina Conti is a British comedian, ventriloquist, writer and an actress better known for her onstage performances with her character-filled puppets. Nina's onstage stars include Monk, the adorably melancholy monkey and Granny, a seemingly psychic Scottish old lady.

The love-hate relationship Nina and Monk share is obvious to all, with the monkey flying insults and abuse throughout the show to a very polite and warm hearted Nina. Granny, Nina's most recent act, made her debut appearance in 2010 at the "Melbourne International Comedy Festival" and has become a big part of Nina's routine since. Granny's show is usually centred on channelling her late husband, Frank, through audience members hand-picked from the crowd and she uses her psychic prowess to read their mind.

Nina was thrown into fame in 2002, by winning the "BBC New Comedy Award" and has continued to win awards and the hearts of audiences ever since. Performing her puppetry shows around the globe, her fans fall in love with the puppets and their ostentatious personalities as well as Nina's sharp and quick-witted jokes, retorts and skills in ventriloquism.

"The kind of sophisticated intelligence that can virtually reinvent the genre [of ventriloquism]É For any self-respecting adult looking for comedy that's truly outside the normÉ this is unmissable stuff."
The Sunday Age, Melbourne

"Extemporising, blurring personalities or just monkeying about, Conti's are among the most entertaining comic voices on the fringe"
The Guardian
